The Trip

Here's a few pics from the cross-country trip. We stopped in Sierra Vista to see the Busbys, San Antonio to see the Hartsells, Baton Rouge to see Chris's sister and the Hoard family, Hernando to see Chris's Uncle Harvey and John Allen and Jessica Ferguson, and Memphis to see Taylor's Great-Grandma Annie Lou. Glad to finally be here in Tennessee!

You'll see a sunset picture and a rainbow picture. Let me explain: We started the adoption process the day we arrived in Yuma 2 1/2 years ago. The Yuma chapter of our lives has been all about the adoption and even more about our family's faith in God. As you know, the road has been almost too long and has had plenty of setbacks. Several times we even wondered if this adoption would ever happen. We learned a lot about God's will, God's plan, and especially God's timing. Wednesday was our last day in Yuma. As the movers were packing the last boxes into the truck and we were getting ready to drive away for good, we knew all too well that our Yuma chapter was on its last page. I ran next door to check email one last time, and sure enough we got the word that we had won the adoption protest and that we would soon have Emily! Praise God! The author of a real-life cliff-hanger. As we drove over the mountains away from Yuma we saw behind us a spectacular sunset and in front of us a magnificent rainbow. For those of you not from Arizona that's pretty amazing! It doesn't rain here. This was the only rainbow we've seen in our years in Yuma. A fitting and timely reminder of God's glory and His promise; a great ending to a short but exciting chapter of our lives.
